She clearly has many years of experience and has a lot of positive energy, which made the training, in addition to being educational, also a lot of fun. Advisory skills course

The degree to which advice is understood, accepted and used depends to a large extent on how that advice is presented. That you, as a consultant, possess the right knowledge and skills, is beyond dispute, but how do you convince the client of that? At the basis lie a number of instruments that no advisor can do without, such as being able to deal with resistance, the value of your expertise, transferring knowledge and being able to deploy various conversational skills that increase the quality of the advisory process.

In our three-day Advisory Skills training you develop a personal advisory style, as the way in which we strengthen our powers of persuasion is different for everyone. You decide for yourself which of the offered techniques and advice you will integrate into your daily practice. The entire advisory process is covered - from the request for an assignment to the final discussion. At the end of the training you are able to give advice in a structured and convincing manner.

Topics

During the training the following topics, among others, will be discussed:

  • Analyse:

    Listening, summarising and questioning.

  • Making a diagnosis:

    Brainstorming and mind mapping.

  • Creating support:

    Recognising and dealing with resistance.

  • Conducting the final interview:

    Using persuasive skills.

  • Using different advisory styles:

    Learn to adapt your advisory style to the type of customer.

  • Self-knowledge:

    Your personal consulting style.

  • Working on a good cooperative relationship:

    Creating win-win situations

  • Conflict resolution:

    Learn to understand the backgrounds of conflicts and recognise starting points.

  • Using interviewing techniques:

    How do you keep control of the conversation?

  • Evaluating the project

Results

After the training:

  • You are aware of your role and position in an advisory process;
  • you can play different roles (consultant/expert/service provider);
  • You know how to act effectively in different phases of the consulting process;
  • (Re)know your strengths and weaknesses as an advisor and
  • You can deal with the expectations of both the client and yourself.

Target group

This training is pre-eminently suitable if you want to develop a personal advice style. Do you recognise yourself in one or more of the points below?

  • You want to strengthen your powers of persuasion.
  • You want to communicate more effectively and increase your influence.
  • You want to expand your reach and make the most of networks.
  • You want to learn how to deal with resistance during the advisory process.

Of course, this list is not complete: everyone is different. What do you want to pay attention to when it comes to advice?

Working method

  • Customisation is our focus: through a telephone intake interview, the trainer makes an inventory of your personal learning goals. On this basis, the definitive programme of the training course is determined.
  • We believe a safe training atmosphere is important, as you should feel comfortable experimenting with new knowledge and skills.
  • We strongly believe in doing and experiencing, rather than talking about the content of trainings, which is why all our trainings are active in nature.
  • In order to guarantee the quality of the training, we apply a maximum group size of eight participants, so that we can guarantee the learning effect and efficiency.

The training is provided in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of the English language. Use can be made of course material in English. With a minimum of three participants, the training can also be provided entirely in English.

I. van Riet, FM Haaglanden - Advisory skills

"I highly recommend this training! As an internal advisor it is sometimes difficult to give good advice in an organisation. This training gives you many tips and tops to ensure that the person being advised takes your advice and you as an expert seriously, to apply LSD effectively, to find out where there is resistance and get rid of it, to create support for your advice, to look for common interests, not to judge too early, to look for creative solutions, to move with the client, to get along, to move away if necessary and certainly not to move against it too quickly, to apply influencing techniques and above all you learn that you must always stand behind your own advice! Very valuable things to put in your "backpack" as an advisor. The training has a practical set-up (many role plays), so it really sticks. - Rating: 8.2
