Course Coaching Leadership

As a manager, you don't want to just hand out one-sided assignments, but rather have a two-way conversation with your employee to get a clear picture of that person's talents and ideas. By getting to know your employees at this level, you can fine-tune and optimally distribute tasks and responsibilities individually. A prerequisite for this is a safe, secure environment in which the employee feels taken seriously and experiences the freedom to show himself. You achieve this by not only standing above the employee, but also beside him.

In the training Coaching Leadership you develop your personal coaching style, using skills such as exploring, reflecting, giving feedback and confronting. You improve your leadership style and get the best out of your employees.

Topics

During the training the following topics, among others, will be discussed:

  • What exactly is coaching leadership and when do you use it? As a coaching manager you have three hats and are leader, manager and coach. How do you find a balance in this and how do you handle it?

  • Golden rules for effective coaching: Mapping out the desired scenario (goal), the current situation (reality), the possibilities (options) and the approach (will).

  • Essential coaching skills: Exploring, showing empathy and reflecting, giving feedback, challenging, provoking, confronting, motivating and giving trust.

  • Responding to verbal, non-verbal and paralingual messages: What does a staff member say literally, what does the body say, how does the voice sound and what effect does this have on the conversation?

  • Stimulate self-reflection: How do you ensure that your employees consciously work on their own development?

  • Dealing with the responsibility of both the employee and yourself: As a coaching manager, it is important to work in a result-oriented way. What is the division of responsibility?

  • Core qualities: What are your own qualities, pitfalls, allergies and challenges? And which qualities are important to use as a coaching manager and which not?

  • Dealing with difficult situations and resistance: Paying attention to feelings and emotions, through insight into the emotional phases of change.

  • Making plans and evaluating results: What is the goal and how can you check if the employee is on the right track?

Results

After the training:

  • You know your own style as a coaching leader and you have a vision on this;
  • You lead by coaching, stimulating your employees to connect their own ambitions and qualities with those of your organisation;
  • facilitate your employees' development in order to get the best out of themselves and achieve results, and
  • You work with a coaching methodology in which you pay attention, investigate, confront and take action.

Target group

This training is ideally suited to managers and executives who recognise themselves in one or more of the points below:

  • You want to improve your leadership style
  • You want to learn or sharpen skills
  • You want to improve the performance or learning ability of your employees
  • You want to give your employees more involvement and a sense of responsibility

Of course, this list is not exhaustive: after all, everyone is different. What do you want to pay attention to within the theme of coaching leadership?

Working method

  • Customisation is our focus: through a telephone intake interview, the trainer makes an inventory of your personal learning goals. On this basis, the definitive programme of the training course is determined.
  • We believe a safe training atmosphere is important, as you should feel comfortable experimenting with new knowledge and skills.
  • We strongly believe in doing and experiencing, rather than talking about the content of trainings, which is why all our trainings are active in nature.
  • In order to guarantee the quality of the training, we apply a maximum group size of eight participants, so that we can guarantee the learning effect and efficiency.

Language

The training is provided in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of the English language. Use can be made of course material in English. With a minimum of three participants, the training can also be provided entirely in English.
