A coach helps an individual or a group to achieve all kinds of results. This is a different role from that of a trainer: whereas a trainer conveys knowledge and practises new behaviour in practical assignments, a coach will ask more questions to stimulate self-insight. In our two-day coaching course, you learn what it means to work as a coach and you train with the basic techniques of coaching.

Yes, I want to know more

"The material was well adapted to the participants and we learned a lot for the short duration of the training. The trainer came across as very professional and knowledgeable and during the training she knew how to improve and adapt the material in consultation with the participants. I felt very comfortable with the trainer because of her knowledge and expertise and also because of her personality. Everything went very smoothly. Pleasant customer contact." - Rating: 9.0

Coaching skills course: practical basic techniques

There are several important topics to be discussed in a coaching course. A coach helps an individual or a group in achieving all kinds of results. These include helping the coachee to make more considered choices, developing more self-confidence, encouraging the coachee to take responsibility, improving his or her communication skills and enabling him or her to work more effectively. This is a different role from that of a trainer. Whereas the trainer conveys knowledge and practises new behaviour in practical assignments, the coach will ask more questions to stimulate self-insight.

In the training Coaching Skills: Practical Basics, you will train with the basic techniques and you will be explained the basics of coaching. The responsibility for growing lies largely with the coachee: the coach stimulates, facilitates, guides and analyses, but the coachee is responsible for the follow-up steps taken. During this coaching course, you learn to get a coachee moving.

Topics

During the training the following topics, among others, will be discussed:

  • The basic principles of coaching
  • The role of coach and coachee
  • Creating trust and equality
  • Understanding communication processes
  • Recognising different levels of communication
  • Stimulating self-reflection
  • Confrontational interviewing techniques
  • Giving clear feedback

Results

  • You know the difference between training and coaching
  • You know if coaching suits you
  • You have insight into your qualities and pitfalls
  • You have skills and techniques to put into practice as a coach

Target group

This coaching course is ideally suited to participants who recognise themselves in one or more of the points below:

  • You want to work as a coach or you already do, but you have never followed any education or training

  • You want to know what it means to work as a coach

Of course, this list is not exhaustive: everyone is different. What do you want to focus on within the coaching skills theme?

Working method

  • Customisation is our focus: through a telephone intake interview, the trainer makes an inventory of your personal learning goals. On this basis, the definitive programme of the training course is determined.
  • We believe a safe training atmosphere is important, as you should feel comfortable experimenting with new knowledge and skills.
  • We strongly believe in doing and experiencing, rather than talking about the content of trainings, which is why all our trainings are active in nature.
  • In order to guarantee the quality of this coaching course, we use a maximum group size of eight participants, so that we can guarantee the learning effect and efficiency.

Language

The training is provided in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of the English language. Use can be made of course material in English. With a minimum of three participants, the training can also be provided entirely in English.

"When I took part in the coaching skills course, I did not expect to know very well what coaching was all about. But during these two days, that became clear to me. I. de Leeuw, Everest - Coaching skills: practical basic techniques

"The content of the training fits well with my personal needs. It was a varied training with a well created and for me safe setting. To get even more out of what I learned, I think the training could consist of three days, so that you can practise what you learned in practice and the trainer can respond to that. I found the trainer motivating, clear and very knowledgeable. She got more out of the pre-set goals, which I experienced as pleasant and interesting. I have no points for improvement." - Rating: 8.0

"Very good training. I have heard many things that I can use. The book you get on the first day of class is very pleasant to read and a fine reference work. What I really liked was that there were three of us, a very small group. Because of this, all three of us got a lot of attention from the trainer and a lot was discussed. I really liked the trainer; her approach appeals to me. You were actively involved. The fact that the trainer uses her psychological background was also an advantage. Learnit Training has left a good impression on me. We were well informed by mail. At the location the service was good." - Rating: 8.0

O. Gerwen, Central Military Hospital - Coaching skills: basic practical techniques

"Personally, I liked this training very much. The two days were very intensive, but fortunately our trainer gave us the freedom to take a break now and then. I personally learned a lot in these two days, especially through the exercises we did regarding coaching conversations. The subject matter is quite tough, but it is explained clearly and calmly and if there are any questions, they take the time to clarify anything that is unclear. All in all, a top trainer with a nice trainer!" - Rating: 9.0

M. Verburg, University of Twente - Coaching skills: practical basic techniques

"The trainer really appealed to me, because she was able to assess the group and adapt the course material accordingly. The trainer gave the participants room to show their emotions during the training. She was able to handle and respond to this in a professional manner. She gave imaginative examples and cases. Personally, I did not need a textbook because it was not used during the training; perhaps it could have been in handouts. Learnit Training strikes me as professional, enthusiastic and representative." - Rating: 8.6
