Sometimes (or very often!) we feel misunderstood, don't understand the other person, don't get along or we come across differently than we intended. It is important to realise that communication is much more than just a skill: it has everything to do with who you are and how you feel. In our two-day training you will discover your communication style and learn to express yourself as you are.

It sometimes (or very often!) happens that we don't feel understood, don't understand the other person, don't see eye to eye or that we come across differently than we intended. Miscommunication has arisen, which brings with it the necessary frustrations. Especially if, for example, you have to work together with someone or if it is important that you present yourself well. There are all kinds of skills and techniques that can help you to "straighten out" the communication. It is important to realise that communication is much more than just a skill. It has everything to do with who you are and how you feel. For example, you may be under stress or not feel well about yourself due to circumstances. This affects the way you express yourself and how you come across to others.

In the Communicative Skills training you will discover your own style of communication and explore your standards, qualities and pitfalls. Which factors contribute to an effective form of communication for you? What do you have to pay attention to and what makes you powerful? In this training you learn to express yourself effectively, which gives you more control over the way you come across. We pay attention to the way we communicate with each other and you find out how our frame of reference is an important source of miscommunication. You learn to express yourself as you are, without offending others.


During the training the following topics, among others, will be discussed:

  • How do we communicate with each other?:

    Understanding how the communication process works

  • Verbal, non-verbal and paralingual communication:

    What do you say literally, what do you do with your body and how does your voice sound? And what effect does this have on your way of communicating?

  • Discovering your personal communication style: exploring core qualities and pitfalls:

    Behind every pitfall lies a quality, and vice versa, in every quality lies a pitfall. Insight into your own qualities and pitfalls helps you communicate more effectively.

  • Primary and secondary response:

    Do you react quickly and out of emotion or do you take the time to react thoughtfully and tactfully?

  • Adopt an active listening posture:

    How do you show that you pay attention to the other person? That you really listen to someone's message?

  • What causes miscommunication?:

    Awareness of noise factors and in particular our own frame of reference as a source of miscommunication.

  • Giving and receiving feedback:

    Explaining what effect other people's behaviour has on you without judging or blaming the other person, so that the other person is open to your message.

  • Gaining insight into yourself and others:

    You get to know yourself (even) better and understand where this comes from in you and you learn that this is also true for everyone else.


  • You are aware of your personal way of communicating and know your qualities and points of attention;
  • You have strengthened your verbal, non-verbal and/or paralingual communication;
  • You know the basic skills of giving and receiving feedback and have practiced them.
  • You know how to hold your own in difficult situations in communication.

Target group

The training is very suitable for everyone who wants to work on sharpening and optimising their own way of communicating. Do you recognise yourself in one or more of the points below?

  • You know that there is work to be done within your own style of communication (you have noticed this yourself or you have heard it from your surroundings and you agree with it)
  • You react from your first emotion and get angry, irritated or impatient
  • You come across differently than you mean to and want to understand how this comes about
  • You would like more insight into your personal communication style
  • You are sometimes inclined to react too strongly (e.g. too directly or bluntly) or too cautiously
  • You would like to come across more firmly or convincingly in the way you communicate
  • You want to learn to give or receive feedback in an effective way

Of course, this list is not exhaustive. After all, everyone is different. What do you want to pay attention to in your communication skills?

Working method

  • Customisation is our focus: through a telephone intake interview, the trainer makes an inventory of your personal learning goals. On this basis, the definitive programme of the training course is determined.
  • We believe a safe training atmosphere is important, as you should feel comfortable experimenting with new knowledge and skills.
  • We strongly believe in doing and experiencing, rather than talking about the content of trainings, which is why all our trainings are active in nature.
  • In order to guarantee the quality of the training, we apply a maximum group size of eight participants, so that we can guarantee the learning effect and efficiency.


The training is provided in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of the English language. Use can be made of course material in English. With a minimum of three participants, the training can also be provided entirely in English.


Prices mentioned are per person, including course material. Lunch is included in the on-site training.

We also organise this training online. For this we use Webbex or Zoom. Login with Skype is also possible. On request, this training can also be organised with Microsoft Teams.

The training lasts 4 sessions of 3 hours, spread over 4 weeks.

  • You can participate again free of charge up to one year after the training.
  • For an additional catering fee, you can also participate in a classroom training.
