Course Presenting with Persuasion

Are you dreading that one presentation for the management team? Do you spend too much time trying to get your story right for the project team? Do you think your story is not exciting enough? Or do you get a knot in your stomach at the thought of the upcoming symposium? Not necessary! The key to convincing presentations is presenting with confidence and knowing how to excite your audience. You will learn how to do this in our two-day training Presenting with Persuasion.

Healthy tension makes you sharp and helps you to give a convincing presentation with attention. But if you experience too much tension, you will not be able to give the presentation you have in mind. During the training we therefore look at who you are and what prevents you from standing before an audience with confidence. We examine where your tension comes from and how you can deal with it.

A condition for presenting with conviction is making contact with your audience. This is only possible if you come across as authentic; if you are yourself. During the training you learn to use your qualities and strong features for a convincing presentation and we give you the tools not only to arouse the attention of your audience, but also to hold it. Finally, it is important to know what you want to say: the content. When you start thinking about what you want to achieve with your audience, you learn to build your story and structure it better. This way, your presentation will make the biggest impression. Many people think that presenting is not for everyone. We believe that everyone can learn to present with conviction!

During the training the following topics, among others, will be discussed:

  • Preparing a presentation:

What should you bear in mind when preparing your presentation?

  • Engaging speech:

How do you excite your audience, what is a scintillating opening and a closing that sticks?

  • Tension before and during the presentation:

You learn what causes tension and to what extent tension can help or hinder you. Insight into the degree of tension you experience and where that tension comes from.

  • Turning tension into positive energy:

How do you ensure that tension does not get in your way? You will be given tools and techniques to transform both physical and mental tension into positive energy.

  • Communication:

How do we communicate and what can we learn from this for giving presentations?

  • Verbal, nonverbal and paralingual communication:

What do you say literally, what do you do with your body and how does your voice sound? How do you come across as a presenter? And how does this affect the effect of your presentations?

  • Purpose, structure and structure:

How do you determine the goal of your presentation, what kind of goals can you pursue, how do you arrive at the content of your presentation and in what form should you cast it?

  • Getting and keeping attention:

How do you get the attention of your audience and what can you do to keep it?

  • Use of tools:

Which tools do you choose and how do they support your presentation? How do you ensure that everything runs smoothly?

Please note that you will spend about three hours preparing a mini-presentation, which you will deliver on the second training day.

  • You present with self-confidence and fun
  • You know how to set the goal of your presentation and know how to achieve it
  • You know how to build and shape the content of your presentation
  • You know how to attract and hold the attention of your audience
  • You know how to excite your audience

Target group

This training is ideally suited to participants who have to speak in public (for their work), want to improve their presentation techniques and stand confidently in front of the group. What do you want to pay attention to within the theme presentation?

Teaching methodology

In the training we alternate between concrete experience, experimenting with behaviour and techniques, reflecting and exploring theory. This way, the training programme fits in well with all types of participants. There is a lot of action in the training, so you actually experience the effect of new behaviour. This enables the recognition of success. We also emphasise that everyone is responsible for his or her own growth process and must take ownership of it. In our training we invite you to continuously reflect and make connections with practice. Our aim is to increase your insight and to let you make the translation yourself. This will increase the chance of real behavioural change.

The topics give you a good indication of what the training will look like. However, the content may differ slightly from training course to training course, depending on the prior knowledge, practical experience and learning goals of the participants. In individual intake interviews prior to the training, the learning goals of the participants are inventoried. The definitive programme of the training course is determined on this basis.

The training is provided in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of the English language. Use can be made of course material in English. With a minimum of three participants, the training can also be provided entirely in English.
