Interviews can be tricky - the applicant opposite you is obviously showing his or her best side, but is that representative for the work he or she will eventually deliver? To be able to properly find out who you are up against and what they have to offer, the STAR method can be useful during a selection interview. STAR stands for Situation - Task - Action - Result. It is an interview technique in which questions are asked according to a certain pattern, based on a concrete situation from the applicant's past.

If the STAR method is applied properly, it can be used to form a realistic picture of an applicant's competences. A certain situation is selected, and questions are asked: what were the interviewee's tasks in the situation in question? How did he or she proceed? And finally, what were the results? The STAR method is only effective if it is properly applied.

In the Selection Interviews with STAR training you will start putting the STAR principles into practice. We will do this on the basis of case studies and practice interviews.

Teaching methodology

In the training we alternate between concrete experience, experimenting with behaviour and techniques, reflecting and exploring theory. This way, the training programme fits in well with all types of participants. There is a lot of action in the training, so you actually experience the effect of new behaviour. This enables the recognition of success. In addition, we emphasise that everyone is responsible for his or her own growth process and must take ownership of it. In our training we invite you to continuously reflect and make connections with practice. Our aim is to increase your insight and to let you make the translation yourself. This will increase the chance of real behavioural change.

No previous knowledge is required for this training.

Made-to-measure

The course description above gives you a good indication of what the training will look like. However, the content may vary slightly from training to training, depending on the prior knowledge, practical experience and learning goals of the participants. In individual intake interviews prior to the training, the learning goals of the participants are inventoried. The definitive programme of the training course is determined on this basis.

Language

The training is provided in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of the English language. Use can be made of course material in English. With a minimum of three participants, the training can also be provided entirely in English.
