Absenteeism Management Course: Conducting absenteeism interviews

Absenteeism occurs in every organisation. Fortunately, it is usually just a bout of flu and an employee is quickly back at work. But what to do when absenteeism occurs structurally and the causes are more serious? For example, in the case of long-term illness or if the cause appears to lie in the relational sphere or the work situation.

In our two-day training Absenteeism Guidance: conducting absenteeism interviews, we discuss how you can best guide absent employees. An efficient method to limit absenteeism is the structural use of absenteeism meetings. Depending on the moment in the absenteeism, these discussions have different angles of approach. We pay extensive attention to various types of discussions (signalling meeting, absenteeism coaching meeting and return-to-work meeting) and our trainers show how the problem of absenteeism can be clarified, deepened and solved in an efficient manner.

  • Unjustified absence or illness?
  • Disability
  • Actions in case of unjustified absence
  • Guidance
  • Causes and consequences of absence
  • Eliminate internal causes of absenteeism
  • Conversation
  • Interview types: signalling interview, counselling interview, return interview
  • Figures, facts and regulations

Teaching methodology

In the training we alternate between concrete experience, experimenting with behaviour and techniques, reflecting and exploring theory. This way, the training programme fits in well with all types of participants. There is a lot of action in the training, so you actually experience the effect of new behaviour. This enables the recognition of success. We also emphasise that everyone is responsible for his or her own growth process and must take ownership of it. In our training we invite you to continuously reflect and make connections with practice. Our aim is to increase your insight and to let you make the translation yourself. This will increase the chance of real behavioural change.

Target group

This training is ideally suited for executives and (HR) managers.
