Being insecure about yourself or your position in a certain situation is very normal. But insecurity can also go too far. A lack of self-confidence quickly leads to a negative spiral: you no longer dare to take on challenges, you lower your standards less and less, which in turn leads to a deterioration in your self-image. Thus, it becomes increasingly difficult to escape from this vicious circle. Nevertheless, there are a number of simple and effective methods available for achieving this 'escape'.

The training teaches you to recognise the causes of your lack of self-confidence and emphasises the importance of verbal and non-verbal communication in relation to your self-image. In addition, this training uses realistic role-plays from real life. Mutual feedback and video analysis ensure that old behaviour patterns are broken. Because you gain more insight into the underlying causes of your behaviour, you learn to distinguish between desired and undesired forms of behaviour in relation to your final goals.

Topics

During the training the following topics, among others, will be discussed:

  • What is self-confidence? And what is assertiveness?:

    Distinction between subassertiveness, assertiveness and aggressiveness. How do you stand up for yourself?

  • Working on a realistic self-image:

    What is your background and what is your goal? We will work on setting realistic goals.

  • Your own qualities and capabilities:

    Success experiences and core quadrants. Gain insight into your pitfalls and bring this back to the quality that lies behind it.

  • The importance of verbal and non-verbal communication in relation to self-image:

    Behaviour evokes behaviour: by consciously choosing which attitude to adopt, you can use more conscious behaviour and achieve your goals.

  • A positive mental attitude (creating and holding):

    Rational thinking using RET and the 4Gs.

  • Recognising the causes of loss of self-confidence:

    Self-reflection.

  • Breathing and relaxation exercises:

    Physically dealing with tension and uncertainty.

  • Dealing with negativity and criticism: Giving and receiving feedback.

Results

After the training:

  • You have more insight into the underlying causes of your behaviour;
  • you can act consciously in relation to your goals;
  • and you are aware of your qualities and pitfalls

Teaching methodology

In the training we alternate between concrete experience, experimenting with behaviour and techniques, reflecting and exploring theory. This way, the training programme fits in well with all types of participants. There is a lot of action in the training, so you actually experience the effect of new behaviour. This enables the recognition of success. We also emphasise that everyone is responsible for his or her own growth process and must take ownership of it. In our training we invite you to continuously reflect and make connections with practice. Our aim is to increase your insight and to let you make the translation yourself. This will increase the chance of real behavioural change.

Made-to-measure

The course description above gives a good indication of what the training will look like. However, the content may vary slightly from training to training, depending on the prior knowledge, practical experience and learning goals of the participants. In individual intake interviews prior to the training, the learning goals of the participants are inventoried. The definitive programme of the training course is determined on this basis.

Language

The training is provided in Dutch as standard. The trainer has a good command of the English language. Use can be made of course material in English. With a minimum of three participants, the training can also be provided entirely in English.

Prices mentioned are per person, including course material. Lunch is included in the on-site training.

Certificate

We also organise this training online. For this we use Webbex or Zoom. Login with Skype is also possible. On request, this training can also be organised with Microsoft Teams.

The training lasts 4 sessions of 3 hours, spread over 4 weeks.

  • You can participate again free of charge up to one year after the training.
  • For an additional catering fee, you can also participate in a classroom training.
