In the 3-day IT Essentials course for Managers, you'll learn all about the most important IT concepts and processes within your organization. You get the information and practical tools you need to talk from the business about IT and make a valuable contribution to the proper design of it processes and IT systems within your organization.


On Day 1 of the IT Essentials course for Managers, you will learn all about the current IT trends and developments in e-business and e-commerce. You discover which IT systems are common within companies and how they support the business. What is ERP? What is CRM? What methodologies for process management and information management are there? And what kind of send information can you get from reporting and analysis systems?

Day 2 is a sign of good commissioning in the implementation of new IT systems. What does a selection and deployment process look like? What are the considerations to do or outsource? What is the difference between traditional project management and Agile project management and what methodologies are there? What about aspects like maintenance, support and service management for IT systems?

On day 3 you will learn to save the bridge between the business and the IT. How do you translate business wishes into an appropriate program of requirements to select and implement the right systems? What makes you a good talking partner in IT issues? And how can you influence important IT decisions and bridging differences of interest from the business?

  • Process management and information management: Lean, Six Sigma, INK and other methodologies
  • Internet as sales Channel: E-business/e-commerce
  • Send information and insight from reporting and analysis systems

Day 2. Good commissioning in IT projects

  • Deploy new IT system: from selection to go
  • IT Outsourcing: When do you outsource IT projects?
  • IT Project management: How to lead an IT project
  • Traditional project management versus Agile project management
  • Maintenance and support of IT systems: Updates and upgrades, fixes, requests for change
  • IT Service Management; Service Level agreements (Slas)

Day 3. Translating business wishes into IT solutions

  • Business requirements: A good business gesprekspartner for IT
  • Influencing IT decisions and bridging interests differences between IT and business


The IT Essentials course for Managers has been developed for anyone without an IT background who needs to connect to each other in its business and IT function or decide on IT topics. For example managers and executives, account managers, project leaders or clients.

Prior knowledge

No specific prior knowledge is required to participate in the IT Essentials course for Managers.


The training is provided by default in Dutch. The trainer controls the English language. English course material can be used. When registering at least 3 participants, the training can also be provided entirely in English.
