It can be tricky to have a conversation with someone who doesn't want something. The motivating conversation technique is a good way to create change language, also called: yes-language, and to reduce the resistance. During our one-day training you will actively work on the theory and practice of motivating conversation.

Course Motivating conversation

Conversations with people who don't want something is sometimes difficult. A discussion with someone in the resistance: just go on. You have the best with the person before, but it is not always possible to bring the conversation to a successful conclusion. Let alone the person to turn to other behaviors or to have a different attitude.

Motivational conversation is a wonderful conversation technique to reduce resistance, increase motivation for change and improve the relationship in case of resistance between two people. In fact, if you have mastered this conversation technique, no resistance is still a problem. You connect easily with the other person and with little effort you know how to get everyone with resistance to a "yes". During our training you will actively engage in the theory and practice of motivational conversation, based on the scientific work of Miller and Rollnick.

During the training, the following topics are covered:

  • What is motivating conversation? Where does it come from?
  • What is resistance? What is ambivalence? How do you cleverly deal with this?
  • Four important steps during a call: How do you get from No to Yes?
  • Generating Ja-language (also called: Change language)
  • Successful completion

Target

The training is ideal for people who work with clients (care), clients (commerce), children (education) and for all other people who have conversations in their work. What do you want to pay attention to within the theme of motivating conversation?

Method

  • Customised work is central to us: by means of an intake interview the trainer will enumerate your personal learning goals. On this basis, the final programme of the training is determined.
  • We find a safe training atmosphere important because you have to feel comfortable when experimenting with new knowledge and skills.
  • We strongly believe in doing and experiencing, rather than telling about the content of training, which makes all our trainings active in nature.
  • In order to guarantee the quality of the training, we apply a maximum group size of eight participants for the training, so that we can guarantee the learning effect and efficiency.

Language

The training is provided by default in Dutch. The trainer controls the English language. English course material can be used. When registering at least 3 participants, the training can also be provided entirely in English.

We organiseren deze training ook online. Hiervoor maken we gebruik van Webbex of Zoom. Inloggen met Skype is ook mogelijk. Op verzoek kan deze training ook met Microsoft Teams worden georganiseerd.

The training lasts 2 sessions of 3 hours, spread over 2 weeks.

  • Until one year after the training you can participate for free.
  • Against payment of the catering costs you can also participate in a classroom training.
