Course Situational Leadership

If you have a view on which goals are priority and know which tasks should be picked up, you can properly support your employees. By joining the motivation and degree of task maturity you choose your leadership style. You have the choice of guiding, instructing, coaching or delegating. Whichever approach you choose depends on the task and depends on who you are facing you. This is called situational leadership.

In our Situational Leadership training you learn skills in the areas of daring to speak up, providing feedback in the right way, following through if necessary, being patient, sitting on your hands, dealing with conflicts, stimulating ownership, asking questions and responding empathically. In this way you can fulfil the special role of team leader with a good dose of energy. We also zoom in on your own role, because your own style and way of acting always influences how others respond to you. Being aware of this increases your options to respond effectively.

Topics

During the training, the following topics are covered:

  • Iceberg theory:

How well do you know your own iceberg and how do you bring it into every encounter with other Icebergs (employees, clients, manager, management). "Iceberg meets Iceberg" means that you get visibility on your own and other people's frame of reference.

  • Teameffectiviteitsmodel:

From vision to goals, work agreements and procedures, to relationships and hidden agendas.

  • Situational Leadership:

What is it and how do I use it in my role as a team leader?

  • Choosing a leadership style:

The mapping of the task maturity and motivation of an employee to determine which leadership style you are wielding in which task.

  • The 3 caps of a leading:

As a team leader, you are manager and coach. Good distinction between these roles is crucial. What cap do you put when on?

  • Coaching Leadership:

Practice with communicative skills and conversation techniques, such as listening, summarizing, by asking, confronting, stimulating ownership, giving feedback, reflecting, stimulating, flipping, missing and grabbing.

  • Influencing skills:

    Use push and pull energy.

  • Conflict management:

The different conflicthanterings styles come over and you get more visibility on your own handling style as conflicts threaten.

Results

After following the training:

  • Do you understand how your employees motivate and inspire and
  • Do you have practical handles appropriate to the four styles of situational leadership.

M. Goslinga, Welfare Lelystad - Managing

"During this training, theory and practice alternated well! The theory discussed strengthened my conviction as to why you can act in a certain way in certain situations. I thought the trainer came across as very professional. You notice that she really knows what she's talking about and that she was very good at responding to what we needed at that moment. For example, sometimes we talked about a certain situation that happened at work: she came up with handles that would be useful for us to apply in such a situation the next time. She was also able to connect theory with practice. Using practical examples, the theory became much clearer to me." - Assessment: 8.2
